Debuted: Anime Expo 2014
Notes:
Katarina is such a badass and strong character, of course she was on my "to cosplay" list. I'll admit, I'm not very good at her in game but I still love her! This was one of the first cosplays I made too (I made 3 cosplays for Anime Expo 2013 and those were the first ones I full made). At the time, I didn't know there was fur fabric on large bolts at the fabric store that I could buy from. Instead I purchased a lot of rolls of fur "ribbon" and used that. Since it was ribbon I couldn't just cut out the shape I needed and sew it together. I went about this the hard way. For the top I took an old bra and glued fur onto it, lengthing the bottom as I went. I did similar for the shorts. I took an old pair of shorts and glue the fur strips onto it. Despite how jankily it was made, it held pretty well and looked okay (lucky for me fur is fur so it hides all the seam lines and any small gaps). I bought the boot cuffs/leg warmers and the base of the gloves. I took the fur strips and added that around the end of the gloves. I also took some fake nails I had gave them a stiletto shape, painted them black and glued them onto the gloves. I already owned the cat ears and tail so there wasn't anything I had to do there. The details on the belts were made from polymer clay and the belts themselves were bought off eBay. The boots I already owned as well. The swords were the fun part. I think this was my first time using expanding foam. I took a cardboard cut out I made and covered both sides in expanding foam, then shaped them as needed. After that I covered them in thin eva foam to flatten and even everything out. This is when I realized I could seal foam with wood glue, so that's what I did. This is how I made her main two swords and the daggers at her thighs. I attached the daggers to the belt on her thighs using magnets. For the other two swords, since they were fairly last minute, I bought some foam swords in a similar shape from the local dollar store and then covered them in duct-tape. As weird as that sounds, I think duct tape gave them a similar look that the coverings had in game. I believe I have a post on my blog about how I made a majority of her props. What was made?
Top. Shorts. All swords & daggers. Thigh belts. Waist belts-altered. Gloves-altered. What was bought? Leg warmers. Ears & tail. Shoes. Related Links!
