Debuted: Asian Fest 2016
Notes:
I instantly fell in love with this skin when it was announced. I love all things magical girl and to have that combined with one of my favorite games, League of Legends? Amazing! Of course it was a must on my "to cosplay" list. To create the pattern for the vest and top, I used basic clothing pieces of mine and traced around them. After that I altered the shape as needed and transfered them to muslin fabric, creating a mock-up. Once the mock-up fit how I wanted, I went ahead and used the real fabric to create the design. The skirt and "cape" around the shoulders was made using a magical girl pattern I picked up at Joann's. The bows were fairly easy to make. Cut out long, wide strips of fabric (as wide as you need the bow to be), finish the seams and tie a bow. The boot covers were free-handed. I used the duct-tape method to create the pattern for part of it, but the rest was made with tracing around the shoe. The gloves were made using the same method as shown in my tutorial. I used bias tape to create the gold lining. For the "armor" pieces (head piece, shoe pieces, etc) I used think eva foam. I free handed the patterns, trying them out and editing them while still in paper form, then transferring them onto the foam when finished. I used a heat gun to shape everything and wood glue to seal it. The stars were made with cardboard. I cut thin cuts on the backside of each, from point to point to help give it the 3D shape I needed. I honestly can't remember whether I used a pvc pipe of wooden post for the handle of her staff, but it was one of the two. To create the ends of her staff, I used insulation foam. All the patterns for the staff were free-handed by me. To keep the center of the stars on her staff clear so that light could get through, I used transparent, colored folders I found at a local dollar store. I did the same thing I've done with her other stars, and cut small cuts on the wrong side to help it bend into the 3D shape I needed it to be. After the prop was finished I stuff in battery powered lights I purchased of eBay and ta-da! It glows. All the pieces that needed painting were painted with a mix of spray paint and acrylic paint. What was made?
Top & vest. Skirt. Stockings. Gloves. Ankle pieces. Shoes-altered. Tiara/head piece. Wand. Bows & cape. Arm band. Choker. What was bought? Nothing! I made everything for this cosplay. Related Links!
